Gender Identification and Health

I wanted to take a minute to address the important and complex subject of gender identification.

In the medical profession, a field dominated by white men and the work of the white men before them, there continues to be a dissemination of medical information along male vs female lines.

There is incredible diversity in the human body, and that fact is starting to gain more respect in the medical community.  However, there are differences in how bodies work, depending on whether a person has ovaries, a vagina, breasts, testes, and/or a penis.

Whatever your gender identity, I welcome you here.  Although Body Fluent Wellness focuses on people with vaginas and/or ovaries, much of the information shared here applies to all human bodies.

Every person deserves to love and care for their own body, and my mission is to help anyone who would like my help.

Last, I'd like to point out that when we limit "Women's Health" to focus only on ovaries and vaginas, we belittle these organs' incredible impact on the ENTIRE body.

A body can not be treated as a conglomerate of separate parts.  To do so would not only be less effective but would also be disrespectful to the individual seeking help.
